The following questions may arise in this context:
With the DIIR standard for auditing projects (English version available) and the guideline for auditing projects (only German version available) a cross-company standard exists to audit projects, which has been developed under control of and based on the initiative of the owner of RDB Unternehmensberatung.
We analyse project management according to the standards for auditing projects of the DIIR (DIIR Standard Nr. 4) assessing the quality of project management, business cases and business requirements definition and provide appropriate recommendations to improve project management processes in case that deficits are identified. We check the business case with regard to the consistency of its contents, whether alternatives have been evaluated and whether the business case is feasible. In addition we check whether the relevant control to ensure the quality of the business case have been effective.
Of course such an audit is based on proven and standardised audit tools, such as standard based questionnaires or our self-developed document assessment procedure.
We help project boards (Steering committees) and project managers understanding our recommendations to efficiently improve project controls by explaining them and providing practice-based examples. As advisor we support project managers in developing appropriate project managements standards for all areas of relevance, e.g. in the project planning process (project breakdown structure) in the daily issue management or in the regular progress reporting. Especially for good and efficient project reporting we have a catalogue with success criteria and practice examples.
We also support Audit executives in the setup of an own pool of project audit specialists.
Within open seminars and in-house-trainings we like to deepen the knowledge of your employees referring to project management and to project audits. We may provide comprehensive training material, which is based not only on the best practice methodologies PMBoK and PRINCE2, but also on a multi-year project management and project audit experience.
We may support the implementation of the conceptual project management tools by accompanying projects with a quality review or by actively advising project management staff in the day-to-day project management.Auditors may be helped in implementing the new audit service line by providing and developing audit material and defining criteria for staff recruitment
